Oregon/SouthWest Washington & Idaho Construction Continuing Education Programs

What is Continuing Education? The dictionary defines skill as "a trade , a competence" and advance as "to elevate, to progress." Our level of competence as skilled carpenters should set an example for the rest of the construction industry. With competence comes pride and a desire to learn more about one's craft

Competence is gained by training and practice. PNCI is gearing up for a busy summer providing Continuing Education classes at a location near you! In the past, training sessions in the fundamental and advanced areas of our trade required a long drive down the road for some of our brothers and sisters. Pacific Northwest Carpenters Institute has recently consolidated or relocated training facilities to enhance the learning experience. Classes continue to be scheduled for areas that may not have a physical training center. Classes in Hermiston, Medford, Longview and Coos Bay are scheduled when demands arise.

Qualification classes for rigging, forklift operators, boom truck operators, scaffold erectors, scaffold user, as well as the OSHA-10 hour safety program are sure to be in demand all around the region. There will be some curves to navigate in scheduling classes on days, evenings, and weekends when most of our members are working during the summer and fall.

As the materials and processes of construction evolve, PNCI is striving to provide our industry with the highly trained work force it needs to remain competitive. The bottom line, of course, is jobs. With skilled, safe, productive employees our contractors will continue to win the contracts that keep our members working. By elevating our skills we progress with the times and do honor to the many craftspeople before us who fought so hard that we may have a safe workplace, a fair wage and the opportunity to better ourselves and our trade. Communication with the people we are here to serve, members and contractors alike, will help us determine which classes to develop and provide. Please contact us if you have any questions or see something new coming down the road.
